I came into Real Estate after being home for a while due to my oldest son’s medical issues. I was literally going insane at home, taking care of a sick child and my two other toddlers. Needing an outlet to regain my sanity as well as interaction with other adults, I got my Real Estate License. I was still working as a Medical Technologist at St. Francis Hospital in Beacon on a part-time basis, and so Real Estate became my “other” part-time job.
After years of shifting from hospital attire to business attire and not being a successful Real Estate Agent, I realized several things. First, I understood that my desire to help people could be fulfilled in my real estate career. Second, I realized that the only way to succeed in real estate was to be a full-time REALTOR® and associate myself with the best in the field. I was lucky to have as a coworker, Randy Rutan, who became my mentor and showed me the difference between being just an agent and being a really good agent!
I dedicated myself to learning my field really well by educating myself in various aspects of Real Estate. I have taken many classes and have been successful in obtaining various designations and accreditations. I am especially proud of my Accredited Buyers Representative (ABR) designation. Other designations I have been awarded include Certified Distressed Property Expert (CDPE), Certified International Real Estate Specialist, Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRES), and I am a graduate of the Real Estate Institute. This education has given me the skills, know-how, and self-confidence to represent my clients in an exceptional way. It is important to me that my clients feel they are getting honest and professional service.
I was born in Angola, Africa, and came to the United States at a very young age. I felt out of place and a stranger for many years. I had many people who opened their arms to me and made me feel welcomed in this strange place. I am mindful that my experience is likely similar to what buyers go through when they are purchasing a home in a new area, and or going through the home-buying process for the first time. They probably feel they are in a strange place. I want to be that person who welcomes them with open arms and makes them feel at home.
Whether my clients are first-time buyers, experienced buyers, relocating from across the street, across the country, or across the world, I want to be that person whom they can depend upon to guide them through every step of the transaction and make their experience of purchasing a home a pleasant one.
